Are you a keen hill walker?

Are you looking to expand your hillwalking, mountain walking or wild camping skills and gain qualifications while doing so?

Space to Talk is looking for volunteers who are passionate about the outdoors to help lead and develop our Space-Outdoor program.

Are you passionate about improving outdoor accessibility for communities facing challenges due to health, isolation and other societal barriers?

Are you an aspiring Lowland or Hill and Moorland walk leader looking to advance your training and experience?

Our program currently includes at least one weekend trip per month from March to October, with plans to expand into winter activities. We offer Hill Walking, Wild Camping, and challenges such as the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Our base in Cumbria provides direct access to the North Pennine fells and the Yorkshire Dales.

We also offer short breaks to South Wales (Brecon) and the Peak District.

We are looking for experienced hill walkers who are either already qualified or seeking qualification via one of the recognised Mountain Training Association qualifications. We can offer funding for training, and although we are staffed by volunteers, we do cover expenses, including travel and meals.

Funding available to cover:

  • MTA membership (plus BMC or similar if required)

  • MTA approved training & assessment

  • Outdoor First Aid
