CONTENT POLICY

We are committed to providing trustworthy information and guidance. Our content policy covers all content, including written articles, video and audio resources and images.

 

We endeavour to ensure that data is accurate and clearly presented. That content is evidence-based; in other words, based on verified published scientific or academic knowledge.

PRINCIPLES

Accuracy

Content will be accurate, balanced and transparent. Information given will be based on the best available scientific, academic sources. Where content contains conjecture or opinion, this will be clearly indicated.

Provenance

Wherever possible source information shall be primary, where secondary sources are used, citations will be checked and verified. Academic and scientific content must be or cite peer-reviewed sources.

Source

Content shall be from trusted sources, authoritative in the subject. Where content is derived from secondary sources, the authority of the original /primary source will be verified.

​

Signposting links for treatment or links to clinical information will only be to the following sources.

​

- NHS or NICE or their verified/trusted partners

- Patient Information Forum (PIF) trusted sites

Date/Age

Content shall wherever possible, be up to date and current. Aged content, for psychology this is any content over ten years old, will be verified against current sources.

​

Motivation

The motivation of content sources will be understood. For example, if sourcing data from a public survey, the reason for the survey must be understood. Where motivation for source data is political or a social campaign, this motivation will be made clear next to or as notes to the content.

​

Bias

Content from organisations funded or sponsored by political or social campaign organisations, even if published and peer-reviewed, will be indicated clearly either as a footnote or within the content.
